• Question: Who or what inspired you to become an engineer?

      My father is a physicist, he used to read me stories about female that did great achievements in science. We used to have some experiment sessions per week, with soap bubbles, homemade volcano, paper air planes, etc. It was great fun and I keep digging in this amazing world of science !

      I’ve always been interested in technology and computers, and worked with my father who’s an electrician.
      When it came to choosing college courses, I was unsure what I wanted to work as, and engineering gave me plenty of options for a potential career.

      I spent a lot of time playing with Lego as a kid. I also liked taking things apart and putting them back together. I suppose I was just always interested in technology and how things work. I think if you had asked me at age 10 what I wanted to be when I grew up I probably would have said an inventor. Engineering is basically the closest thing to that, so everything worked out great!

      I had some very good teachers in school, but my Engineering Teacher (John O’Neill in Newpark) was particularly influential. Even though engineering in school was more mechanical than what I studied in college (electrical / electronic) it turns out that it’s all related. Even if I hadn’t done engineering in school, it would still have been the best course for me in college, but the danger is that I might never have realised it!
